I recently had the pleasure of consulting on a healthy home project in New Orleans. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to provide AFM Safecoat to the client, Eva, and her architectural firm Benjamin Massey Architects. Ben is a talented professional who is also dedicated to human comfort and well-being while being firmly rooted in beauty, form, and sustainability. When I learned about the geography and location of the cottage being reimagined, I instantly knew that we needed a tough and durable paint choice to hold up well in the wet and humid New Orleans climate and to also weather the oppressive summers while at the same time being aesthetically beautiful and non-toxic. AFM Safecoat was the obvious choice. I tapped into my good friend Jay Watts, Vice President of Marketing at AFM, who also became excited about the project and together we sent Eva a variety of paint colors to choose from. What came next was an extraordinary final project that exceeded our expectations. Eva and Ben worked together to choose a gorgeous color palette of safe, non-toxic, and healthy paint to create her serene cottage.
A Healthy Home in NOLA Comes to Life!
“As an architect, it is necessary that the homes I design for my family and for my clients are healthy, green, and serene. That’s why AFM Safecoat is one of my favorite paints to use when renovating, restoring, or building a home. AFM Safecoat has become the go-to paint source of mine, not only for its rich color palate but for its 0 VOC (volatile organic compounds) and 0 HAP (harmful air pollutants) formula,” says Ben Massey. “When I renovated this historic property in New Orleans, I chose AFM’s shade of Oasis for most of the walls, since it is a beautiful shade of white, which when the sunlight hits it, whispers a quiet hue of minty green. It’s beautiful and luxurious and people notice it when they walk inside. The paint itself has a presence. And it’s healthy for all who visit inside. It has no unhealthy toxins or harmful chemicals, and allows for a bright, effervescent environment for all inside,” shares Massey.
There is nothing I love more than to collaborate with contractors and architects who share in the mission of creating a healthy home environment where the occupants can rest assured that their home is not making them sick or unwell. Health and happiness should be the main priorities and collaborating with Eva, Jay, and Ben on this gem of a project was special to me.
